Turkic American activist and businessman Adil Baguirov is running as the Republican candidate for the Montgomery County Recorder (Ohio) in the November 2018 elections. Adil is the first Azerbaijani American ever to be elected to public office. He was elected to the Dayton (Ohio) Board in 2013 of Education (DPS) and served until 2017. He was also elected as the DPS president. Under his leadership, DPS raised its ranking on the Ohio state report card from “F” to “A.”

Adil holds a Ph.D. and a degree from the University of Southern California (USC). He has been involved in numerous businesses including real estate, transportation and healthcare. As a civic activist, he has been involved with Turkic and Turkish American causes for the last 25 years working with the U.S. Turkic Network, U.S. Azeris Network, Karabakh Foundation, and Turkish Students Association (TSA) at USC.

On March 28, TC-USA PAC, TC-NE PAC and TC-Midwest PAC were sponsors of a dinner in Washington, DC, honoring Congressman Don Beyer's (D-VA/8th). Representatives from the Turkish American community in Virginia who attended the dinner highlighted the importance of continuing dialogue between Turkey and the United States and maintaining the alliance. As a token of appreciation for Congressman Beyer’s friendship with the Turkish American community over the years, Hande Akmehmet Uzun of Virginia presented him a box of Turkish delights.
On February 13, Turkish American activist Nurten Ural, representing the TC-Midwest PAC, participated in a meet & greet event in Washington, DC for Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence (D-MI/14th). Representative Lawrence represents Michigan's 14th congressional district and serves on the House Committees of Oversight & Government Reform and Transportation & Infrastructure. Nurten, who is a member of the Turkish American Cultural Association of Michigan, had the opportunity to update the congresswoman on Turkish American issues.
